mutende peace

“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.”

Philippians 4:6-7 (the message)

 African Peace

It was in the smiles,

Of lips parting to reveal

The welcome grace

Of priceless pearls

Caught in sunlight,

That I recognised the beauty of peace.

It was in the laughter,

The delight of play

With makeshift toys

Sufficient to enthral and transport

Beyond the confines of sadness,

That I heard the sounds of peace.

It was in the hand,

Tentatively placed in mine,

A gift of belonging

As we walked together,

Both grateful for kindness,

That I felt the touch of peace.

It was in you,

So generously giving,

Courageously trusting,

That I find my heart now

Captured by your belief in me,

And forever changed

By this place of peace.
