Fire

“Do you see what we’ve got? An unshakable kingdom! And do you see how thankful we must be? Not only thankful, but brimming with worship, deeply reverent before God. For God is not an indifferent bystander. He’s actively cleaning house, torching all that needs to burn, and he won’t quit until it’s all cleansed. God himself is Fire!”
Hebrews 12:28-29 (The Message)
Cleansing Fire
Do I see you, truly?
Like vision on water,
like coming on clouds,
like hand on shoulder,
hand on wood beam,
beaming.
My throat should sing
continuous melodies
of your majesties,
but the notes
are stuck
on parched lips
too far
from the Well.
You are not
indifferent.
Your forever kingdom
hovers just above
the horizon and
You watch me-
hand outstretched,
kindling waiting
to burn free.
You ignite
the tender
deep heart
places,
setting aflame
sinful soul
so righteousness
may bloom, fresh.
What is most real
will be
most everlasting.
So consume me, all.
Fill me, full.
That I may once again
see you,
truly.
